CIBC and Bow Valley College: Expanding Opportunity Through Partnership

Bow Valley College is proud to celebrate its ongoing partnership with CIBC, whose generous $150,000 investment is helping to remove barriers and create more equitable access to education for students across the college.

Through this commitment, CIBC is continuing to champion student success by strengthening the CIBC Diversity Bursary and establishing the CIBC Reducing Barriers Bursary, together supporting 30 students each year with critical financial assistance. As a longstanding partner of the College, CIBC has played a vital role in expanding access to education, supporting students each year through its bursaries and helping students reduce financial barriers and pursue their goals over the course of the partnership.

This investment reflects a shared vision: that education should be accessible to all, regardless of circumstance. By supporting students from diverse backgrounds, including those who identify as part of the Black community, Indigenous learners, and students with disabilities, CIBC is helping ensure that more students can pursue their goals with confidence and focus.

“CIBC is proud to partner with Bow Valley College to help make education more accessible, flexible and inclusive for all,” says Heather Wagner, SVP, Region Head, Central Canada. “By strengthening the CIBC Diversity Bursary and establishing the CIBC Reducing Barriers Bursary, we’re providing improved economic opportunities and increasing students’ ability to find, grow and retain employment, ensuring that everyone has the ability to achieve their ambition.”

Beyond financial assistance, these awards represent a powerful vote of confidence in students’ potential. With reduced financial pressures, recipients are better able to fully engage in their studies, build in-demand skills, and prepare for careers that will strengthen Alberta’s workforce and communities. This work reflects CIBC’s broader commitment to improving the financial health and wellbeing of Canadians.

Recipient of the CIBC Diversity Bursary Award, Oluwatosin Odusola shares, “This bursary has allowed me to focus more on my studies and less on financial stress, bringing me one step closer to my dream. Balancing motherhood, school, and work has not been easy, but every challenge has taught me strength and perseverance. This award has made a real difference in my life, and I am deeply grateful.”

This impact was brought to life at Bow Valley College’s recent Celebrating Student Futures and Alumni Awards celebration event, where CIBC colleagues joined the campus community to meet several scholarship recipients. These meaningful conversations underscored the difference that student support can make, creating space not only for recognition, but for connection and shared purpose.

Together, CIBC and Bow Valley College are not only investing in individual student success: they are building a stronger, more inclusive workforce and community. This partnership is a testament to the transformative power of collaboration, and to a shared commitment to creating opportunity, empowering potential, and shaping a brighter future for all.
